Genealogy

Our Heritage Room houses a collection of Genealogy and Local History resources. Books are available on local family histories; county histories with an emphasis on Thomas County; general genealogy subjects and on southeastern states; periodicals; local high school year books city directories from 1946 and a lateral file collection containing local history are available.

A state of the art Microfilm reader/printer is available to view Thomas County census and Thomasville newspapers from 1861-2000, with hard copies available from 2000 to present.

Databases for censuses and other genealogical records are available. The Georgia Death Index from 1919-1998 is also available.

A dedicated computer with printer and genealogy software installed and free access to subscription on-line services and copier are also available.
